The project investigates the theme of separation and reunion of East and West Berlin. The piece consists of several groups of oil paintings combined with mirrors and objects. Fragments of the urban environment "collected" in both eastern and western parts of the city are painted on thin aluminum panels and arranged into episodes, with images overlapping each other. Portrait paintings based on the Renaissance sculpture from the Bode museum collection are inserted into the mundane city imagery, implying the complex relationship between the past and the present, between art and life.
