Public Property
Installation, 2004 - 2005
In the installation Public Property, pieces of real furniture are combined with 2-D furniture “stickers” made of electrician’s tape. While travelling extensively, we were struck by the fact, that plastic chairs, fire extinguishers, and exit signs are the same everywhere. They define a “public place,” and yet, precisely because they are so unmistakably recognizable, they trigger personal memories, and thus transform the “public” into the “private”.
