Hidden People
Installation for the Körnerpark Gallery Berlin, 2021
This large-scale site-specific installation is based on our experience of the Icelandic landscape. We were inspired by the magic and grandeur of nature and the wisdom of the local people. One particular acquaintance has left a very deep impression upon us. Sheep farmer Finnbogi who lived alone in a magnificent landscape of the Westfjords has introduced us to the concept of the “Hidden people”. According to Icelandic mythology, a complex world of various beings inhabits our planet besides humans. Our project is about the unknown, the unexplained, and the miraculous…
The walkable installation is built entirely out of cardboard. Large-scale paintings on rough canvas are integrated into the cardboard walls. Their motives tell a story about our both real and imaginary encounters.
